چکیده

Abstract Background The production of a good quality chest radiograph depends on the selection appropriate kilovoltage and current–time product while keeping radiation dose to patients as low possible. This study assessed radiographers’ level compliance use high kV standard for postero-anterior (PA) X-ray in South region Nigeria. Results Seventy-seven 82 questionnaires administered were completely filled returned giving response rate 94%. Of these 77 respondents, only 74% ( n = 57) aware high-kV technique recommended procedure PA X-ray. Departmental protocols (technique chart with exposure factors) also non-existent all hospitals/diagnostic centres used this study. Thirty-one respondents males (40%); 44% 34) working public hospitals 32% 25) less than five years experience technique. On benefits, more 50% familiar benefits using X-rays. Responses varied from 77% 59) patient reduction 51% 39) better imaging airways. X-rays showed 13% compliance. Factors influencing included system (film screen /digital), tube rating unit preset/manual factors p < 0.05). Conclusions present revealed region, suggesting potential increase ionizing during radiography, hence need improve adherence standard.

Dose Reduction to the Thyroid Gland in Pediatric Chest Radiography

Background  It is remain a main concern that pediatric chest radiographies contribute to the significant radiation exposure to the thyroid gland as a more susceptible organ to radiation induced cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate the entrance surface dose (ESD) of pediatric chest radiography compared to the diagnostic reference levels (DRL) and evaluation the efficacy of the lead (Pb)...

OptimizatiOn Of chest radiOgraphy practice fOr critically ill patients

background. Intensive care unit (ICU) patients frequently undergo chest radiographs (CXrs). The diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy of routine CXrs are now known to be low, but the discussion regarding specific indications for CXrs in critically ill patients and the safety of abandoning routine CXRs is still ongoing. We performed a survey of Dutch intensivists on the current practice of chest r...

Endobronchial Tuberculosis and Chest Radiography

Endobronchial tuberculosis and chest radiography I read, with interest, the article entitled “Clinical and Para-clinical Presentations of Endobronchial Tuberculosis” by Ahmadi Hoseini H. S. et al. (1) published in this journal. I would like to focus on some details about the chest X-ray of patients as elaborated by the authors in the results section. Accordingly, the findings of chest radiograp...

Chest radiography for radiologic technologists.

The chest exam is performed more frequently than any other exam in the imaging department. It is important for radiographers to understand the standards for imaging the chest because good chest radiographs are critical in managing patient care. This article provides an overview of chest radiography from the perspective of both the radiologist and the technologist. Readers will gain an understan...

All complications were due to misplaced sites, with no episodes of pneumothorax in evidence. In co...
